Hi all,

Where to start… This is my last President’s note. I cannot thank everyone enough for electing me to be the chapter President for the Greater Tidewater ASSP Chapter. It has been an interesting two years with COVID-19 but we managed to keep the chapter running and thriving.

I want to personally thank James O-Rourke (Past President) for all your help and guidance. Elizabeth Barnette for always being a sounding board for me and allowing us to meet at the Damuth Training Center. Ali Conerly for all her help as the (Chapter Vice President), and I wish you the best of luck as you take over the Chapter President Role. I am here to help in any way I can. Candice Rambo for being an amazing (Chapter Treasurer) and keeping all of books and reporting in line. Kristina Knapik (Communications Chair) for all her help with communicating everything to the chapter members. Kyle Martin (Chapter Secretary) for assisting with speaker selections and always being there with feedback. Stephanie Neary (Newsletter Chair) for doing an amazing job with the Chapter Newsletter. Dan Hurley for always being there to help plan our Summer Social. Steve LePock for offering his guidance and ASSP experience to help the chapter grow.

The past two years have been challenging but so rewarding. I look forward to taking a step back and watching the new Chapter Officers take over and put their great minds to work to continue to grow the chapter. I especially want to thank each one of the chapter members, you all have helped grow this chapter to what it is today. The past 6 years in an officer roll with this chapter has been such a great experience, I have learned so much, gained so many friends and am beyond grateful. This isn’t Goodbye, this is see you later.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Miles

The Practical Benefits of Emotional Intelligence and Mindfulness

On March 16, our chapter hosted our first ever hybrid meeting at Mitsubishi Chemical in Chesapeake. In addition to the excitement of this milestone, we also had members from the Colonial chapter join our event (online and in person!)

In addition, we provided a check for $500 dollars and an ASSP student membership to ODU student Mark Burch, an Environmental Health major with a minor in Occupational Safety. Thanks to each of our members for participating in our December 2021 Holiday raffle fundraiser that made this possible.
