Speaker: Scott Kalis, City of Virginia Beach

We are excited to announce a fellow ASSP member, Scott Kalis, as our speaker for January!

Scott is the Occupational Safety and Health Services Manager for the City of Virginia Beach. He is an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) professional who has administered environmental compliance and employee health, safety and wellness programs over 25 years.  Scott has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Sciences with focus on Disaster Management and Masters of Science Degree from the George Washington University.    He is an honorably discharged military veteran who proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy both in the US and abroad.

He has served as an intermittent federal disaster responder with the US Department of Health and Human Services in a force protection role as a Health and Safety Officer for over 20 years and has deployed to numerous national disasters and emergencies.  Scott has served as an SGE (special government employee) with both VOSH and OSHA and mentor in the States VPP program and continues to teach and mentor in the field when he can.

Scott is active with numerous professional health and safety organizations promoting risk management, work-place safety and health, wellness programs and improving the employee’s work-life balance. He resides in Virginia Beach with his wife Stephanie and their twin daughters Skye and Soleil.
